ConvexSoft Audio Converter is a multiformat audio-only encoder and decoder that supports an extensive list of output formats, both lossy and lossless. Among the former you will find the popular MP3, AC3, RA, Ogg, and WMA audio codecs; and FLAC, AU, and AIFF are present for PCM and lossless audio compression. Any input file can also be turned into a WAV file for easy CD burning.

Novice users can leave the built-in settings provided for each format untouched, while more experienced users may want to change them to their preferred bit and sample rates, number of channels, or the volume level (from 25% up to 200%; without any dynamic compression, though, so you will most likely end up with audible artifacts). The program's batch conversion capabilities allow you to convert multiple files into one of the available output formats; note, however, that if you wish the program to perform conversions into different output codecs, each task needs to be performed separately.

This versatile application has limitations, though, as not all audio conversions work both ways. It offers limited transcoding support for GSM, APE, h261, SHN, VOC, and AMR audio files: these are supported only as input files, and can therefore be converted into any of the output formats listed above, but you will not be able to compress a WAV file using the APE codec, for instance.
